Extra Competitions
These competitions are open to Preliminary/Open dancers in both heavy and light shoes. Dancers will dance 16 bars in heavy shoes and/or 16 bars in light shoes. These are two separate competitions, in mixed age groups. All dancers start at the back of the stage. This is a great extra competition for dancers competing in the Qualifiers!
These competitions are open to all dancers who have not been previously placed in the top five in Open Championships and are not competing at the Qualifying Championships nor Adults Championships in 2023. These competitions are open to Primary and Intermediate level. Dancers have a choice of reel/slip jig, heavy jig/hornpipe and will perform 32 bars of their chosen dances, at Intermediate speed, dancing two at a time.
To celebrate our host city of Brașov, a historical city of the region of Transylvania. Dancers competing in the Treble Reel competitions will dance 16 bars down the line, freestyle. Therefore use of hands and non-traditional dance wear are permitted.
The competition is open to Intermediate/Open dancers of all genders, who are to perform 16 bars of slip jig (113 bpm) down the line. Competitors can opt to perform in light shoes or heavy shoes and use of hands and costumes of choice is encouraged. The competition will take place as part of the feis section of the event.
